FREEZE DRYING?

WHY FREEZE-DRY?

Exceptionally tasty, crunchy, and nutritious

Freeze-drying is a special form of dehydration that removes nearly all of the water content while the food is frozen. This state of the art dehydration technology not only preserves the original taste and locks in valuable nutrients but also allows for much longer shelf life compared to the conventional means of dehydration. When applied to fruits, freeze-drying can create a unique snacking experience as fruits turn into savory and exceptionally crunchy fruit snacks.

Dehydrated

  • High temperature heat is applied
  • Loss of nutrients
  • Change in appearance and taste
  • Cannot return to original state

Poor

Freeze-dried

Freeze-dryingin four simple steps

How does Freeze Drying work? Here is an illustration of freeze-drying in four simple steps.

1

LOCALLY SOURCED
FRUITS ARE FROZEN
AND PLACED IN
VACUUM CHAMBER

Fresh foods are placed in the dryer where they are frozen to -40 degrees Fahrenheit or colder

2

REMOVE
UP TO 98% OF
MOISTURE

Once the food is frozen, the freeze dryer creates a vacuum around the food. Then, as the food is slightly warmed, the ice transitions into vapor and evaporates. This process is also called sublimination.

3

COLLECT FREEZE-
DRIED FRUITS UPON
COMLPLETION

Freeze-Dried fruits and vegetables are collected and thoroughly inspected.

4

SEAL IN MOISTURE
AND OXYGEN-
PROOF PACKAGING

The freeze-dried food is then sealed in moisture and oxygen-proof packaging to ensure freshness until opened.
